There are so many benefits to meditation. I know how much I have benefitted giving myself that time and that space for me. An opportunity to clear my mind when my mind is busy. An opportunity to reflect on something that’s bothering me. A chance to reflect on a decision I need to make. To check in with myself to see how I’m feeling and so much more.

I love the quote “you should sit in meditation for 20 minutes a day, unless you’re too busy; then you should sit for an hour” – Old Zen saying.

The power of meditation is immense! As the quote implies if we aren’t spending time on ourselves, we need to spend time on ourselves. I’m a great advocate of finding what works for you. If you decide to try to meditate for 1 minute a day that’s a great place to start. Maybe you already meditate for 5 mins every now and then and want to do so more regularly. It’s all about finding something that works for you. We are so much more likely to stick with it if we make it achievable for ourselves.

Some prefer to meditate in the morning, some in the evening; again try different times and see if there is a better time. I find that a 5 minute meditation first thing in the morning is amazing. I’m so much more patient when we are searching for lost shoes and hairbrushes!!
