There are so many benefits to children practising yoga not least to help support their mental health and wellbeing. Here are few benefits:
- Yoga can improve flexibility and strength in children. A regular practice is great way to help children understand how their body moves and also noticing what they can do with their bodies.
- It can also help children to develop body awareness and control.
- Yoga can teach children how to relax and manage stress.
- Yoga helps children to develop concentration and focus.
- If your child finds it hard to sleep then yoga can help improve sleep.
I wrote my first book, Yasmine Yogi and a Phoebe Bee in the first lockdown to help with exactly this! And it’s still as relevant today as it was back in 2020.

One of the primary benefits of yoga for children is improved physical health. Yoga can help to improve flexibility, balance, and strength, which can help to prevent injury and improve overall physical fitness.
Practising yoga regularly can help to improve posture. I’m sure we’ve all noticed how different our posture is since we have mobile phones.
Yoga can have such a positive impact on children’s mental health. Practicing yoga can help to reduce stress and anxiety, and can promote feelings of calm and relaxation. This can really help children who may be dealing with stress such as tests/exams etc. Yoga can also help to improve sleep quality, which can have a significant impact on overall mental health.

In addition to physical and mental benefits, practicing yoga can also help children to develop important life skills. Yoga can help to improve concentration and focus. This can be particularly helpful for children who struggle with attention issues. Yoga can also help to develop self-awareness and self-esteem. Children learn to connect with their bodies and minds in a positive and meaningful way.
There are so many benefits to bringing yoga into your child’s day. Whether it’s improving physical health, reducing stress and anxiety, developing important life skills, or improving social skills, yoga can have a significant impact on children’s overall well-being.
